I do like Avsey’s translations and find his English to flow better than the more popular Pevear and Volokhonsky who are also great and perhaps more faithful to the original Russian.

It’s a story that has deeply affected my humanity. I saw every character in front of me moving and talking I tend to agree with Dostoevsky, who himself acknowledged that the novel contained a single insultes scene and one or two memorable characters; after reading it become obvious which ones they are.
